INACTIVE: By inactive, we mean that you have vanished, not only from the game but the forums, websites, facebook, discord, EVERYTHING. That we have not heard from you, that we don't know why you have left the game or server, and that you are gone for a period of 2 weeks or more without communicating that absence with someone of staff rank.
Shard wide: It's a free server, come and go as you please, no worries. We won't be deleting anything because you aren't here. The only reason for an account to be deleted is because it's requested, or because it belonged to a problem person that we regretfully were left with no choice but permanently ban them.
Shard wide plot lines: Anyone running shard wide story lines, should understand that as the story line affects everyone, that if you are unable to continue it for any reason (even a good one!) know that someone else will be picking up the story line and continuing on if you become inactive. We don't want story lines to go stale after a month or so because someone is inactive. So if you can't avoid being inactive, you might consider waiting until you can be active to run the story line. This applies to anything that affects the WHOLE SHARD. Such as the slavers story, any faction plots, govt leaders such as Queen Dawn, etc. While RL comes first, RP is constantly happening.
Between individual characters and players: Going inactive can have an effect on several relationships with many players and characters. Be mindful that if you go inactive, without warning, you might come back to find that your in game fake pixel significant other has moved on! It's up to each individual player how long they are going to wait on someone. Communicating what is going on in RL and why you are inactive goes along way in helping other players to be more patient and await your return!
STAFF: If you go inactive without letting anyone know, expect that you will be demoted. Staff positions are not like fraternities where once you're in, you're in for life. That's not to say you can't be promoted back when you come back, but that will be handled on a case by case basis. Going inactive multiple times without any warning or communication will result in a demotion to player status and no chance of becoming staff again. Actions speak louder than words.
NOTE: This applies to staff as well. If you are going to vanish from the server, kindly communicate that with other staff members so that know what's going on. You're not expected to give personal reasons, but letting us know that you will be absent is mandatory for staff. A certain level of professionalism is expected for all staff members.
There are several levels of relations to consider when talking about a player that goes inactive.
