The RoC of ROC!
Failure to read the rules and understand them is not an excuse for breaking any rule. If you have any questions about what is allowed, please ASK!(Rules are subject to change as needed, so please be sure to check back!)
These rules can apply not only to our server, but also our website, FB group page, forums, and Discord. If it is not specified within the rule, where it applies and how, then it applies to all of the above, and it is not something you should do, ever, when interacting with anyone in our community.
These rules refer to player behavior only, not character behavior or role play. For a list a roleplay rules, please review the Role Play Rules post. roclasmpy.proboards.com/thread/359/role-play-rules
Your rights END where another's rights BEGIN.
And lastly, intent matters to us. People make mistakes, and you aren't going to be punished for being human. When reading the following rules, understand that any harsh actions are to be taken towards those that lack remorse or act with harmful intent. Not those who are capable of apologizing and just made an honest mistake.
1 – RESPECT
Respect your fellow players, and their game style, and always remember that real people play, and have real feelings. Should any of those real feelings be hurt, THEN IT NEEDS TO BE TALKED ABOUT, in a mature manner, like an adult. If something upsets you and you say NOTHING, then no one is responsible for apologizing or recognizing that your feelings were hurt, because YOU CHOSE TO SAY NOTHING. (And by saying something, that means actually saying something to the person that was involved, or reporting it to staff, NOT talking about them or the incident behind their backs.) If a neutral party (staff) is needed to help smooth things over, ask me or a staff member to join!
2 – PROBLEMS
Any problems with the server, gameplay, or people here, NEEDS TO BE REPORTED! We can't fix something if we don't know about it. And just because something is reported, doesn't mean the fix will happen right away, but we do promise to keep everyone updated on the progress being made towards any fixes that are needed. (Server and game fixes will likely take much longer than player problem fixes. Nature of the beast.)
Problems with the Server, website, or FB page, should be reported publicly. (MAKE A POST!) Others might have more information about the problem, having the same or a similar problem, and the more information we have about what is wrong, the better able we are to find the problem and fix it. It's also possible that the problem is not on our end, and that someone might have a suggestion for what you need to do to fix it on your end.
Problems with Discord needs to be reported to the creators of Discord. It’s not something the staff of Roclampsy can fix.
Problems with PEOPLE and fellow PLAYERS need to be reported PRIVATELY to staff. We will work with you to try and resolve all problems fairly, for all involved. But creating drama before a problem can be fixed, does nothing but create a bigger problem.
3 – LANGUAGE
Many of us have kids, and many of those kids play the game. Even if our kids don't actually play, many parents would rather not have to worry about what their children might accidentally see or overhear when playing the game. Don't worry, there are places where sailor talk is perfectly acceptable! But we have to be fair to everyone, not just the sailors.
TRASH TALK - This refers to intentionally hurtful insults, and is not allowed. (friends joking is fine, I'm often called wench, etc, and playful banter in RP settings is fine, such as the jerk face pirate. This is aimed more so at juvenile OOC, that is not playful, or fun.)
Server: World chat, public events, and when out in publicly populated areas (Such as major cities that are crowded with lots of players that you don't know), keep it PG Rated! (saying things like 'fork off' and the like is allowed)
Your house, your guild, your alliance, your private RP – we don’t care.
Public area Role Play – Keep it in character, and keep it reasonable, and be mindful of what you are saying when it’s known there are children present. (If the RP taking place is NOT kid friendly, the children can be asked to play somewhere else)
Discord: Lobby voice chat and General text – PG RATED!
Adults are talking and all other voice chats, we don’t care. If you are in any voice chat other than the lobby, and the topic or language bothers you, then you need to move to another channel.
FB group page and Website – PG Rated!
Forums – A little lax with stories and more silly posts, but overall, lets at least try to give the appearance of mature adults.
Know that any posts in areas that are supposed to be PG rated, that does not follow that rating, will be either edited, moved or deleted.
None of us are perfect, and now and then even the best of us will make a mistake when in a public chat. But know that now and then is a goof up, but constant goof ups are considered a problem.
If there is a situation or person, that you are upset about, and you are not capable of expressing yourself or the problem without cussing like a sailor, then you need to either find a staff member to talk to them PRIVATELY about it, or log off and come back and try expressing yourself and the situation after you have calmed down.
4 – BULLYING AND ABUSE
Defined as follows:
Bully: A person who uses strength or power to harm or intimidate those who are weaker.
Abuse: To treat a person or an animal with cruelty or violence, especially regularly or repeatedly. Insulting and offense language.
Any form of bullying and/or abuse towards anyone is NOT ALLOWED. This includes any form of physical, mental, or emotional bullying and/or abuse.
5 – GRIEFING AND HARASSMENT
Defined as follows:
Griefing: In online gaming, someone who takes pleasure in creating grief for an opponent.
Harassment: aggressive pressure or intimidation.
Can include (but is not limited to):
- Training, or angering hostile mobs to chase you at another player. This is named because the chain of mobs looks like a train.
- PVP stalking, aka Rez Killing or stalking a player and continuing to kill them. This is similar to camping but occurs with the same player for a long period of time.
- Chat spamming, or adding random text or profanity into the chat.
- I really don’t feel like that should have to be spelled out, but here it is anyway. Blatant insults, as well as derogatory or racial insults, count as griefing.
Such behavior is not allowed.
6 – EVENTS/HUNTS
This rule is in regards to PLANNED events and hunts, meaning they have been posted in advance on the forums HERE. The person leading the hunt/event is the one that is in charge! Do not disrespect them! If you think that the event/hunt could be improved upon, then instead of complaining about it, either offer helpful suggestions or better yet, run your own event!
Posting reminders about an upcoming event/hunt are great, but try not to put out the same reminder more than once a day.
7 - NAMES
No stupid names! It's a roleplay server, so let's make actual real people names. Crafters may have a "crafted by" name, but that is the only exception.
8 - Signatures and Avatars
Yes, they are art and meant as a way to creatively express yourself and your character. But let's be reasonable, and keep the art tasteful. (Yes, that leaves lots of room for interpretation. Thus far, all sigs and avatars have been lovely bits of eye candy! So unless there is an actual problem, there is no need to be specific yet.)
9 - SPAM
NOT ALLOWED. This includes anywhere! In the game, on the forums, websites, in discord. Just don't do it. This refers to not only spam posts, but also repeatedly posting the same thing over and over and over and not giving a chance for anyone else to respond.
10 - SHARD CHILDREN
There is a guild (TBA), that consists of RL young children. This is meant to be a safe gaming experience for them, and to allow them to learn the game without added pressures. Most (if not all) of them are the children of your fellow players. Their housing area of the game is West from Luna.
You are NOT required to game with the little people on the server. (Meaning if they show up while you are RPing, you have the right to politely ask them to leave.) You ARE required to show them some patience, and not harass them.
(One of my own kids, is captain obvious, the other is oranges because "if you say oranges slowly it sounds like gullible." I love them dearly, and they annoy me. It's reasonable to assume they would annoy others. But that doesn't mean I won't go crazy momma bear on anyone messing with them either. DON'T CAUSE DRAMA BY UPSETTING THE CHILDREN AND MAKING CRAZY MOMMA AND PAPA BEARS!!!!)
Know that the children, while they get a learning curve, are held to the SAME rules as EVERYONE ELSE! And if there are any problems with the children, REPORT IT! (We can and will ground them from the game and their computers.)
If there are any other suggestions or edits that you feel we need, please reply and let us know!
